For the purpose of this list we are looking only at SSL/SDJ and ignoring Intro: You asked specifically about pros and cons of Serato though so let's break it down. Serato: has hands down the best library management of any digital DJ offering, will soon include DVS support and controller support in the same piece of software, has free licensing on the software as long as you have compatible hardware so you can upgrade to major version changes without shelling out extra cash and they tend to support older hardware for a very long time (the SL1 is just now going End of Life and it was released a decade ago, even so they are committed to still providing downloads of compatible software for those who choose to continue to use it.) Traktor: can be mapped for just about any MIDI device on the market so it works with pretty much everything, generally accepted to have the best effects (other packages are catching up and this is becoming more and more debatable), common choice of controllerism because of robust "performance" tools. Neither Traktor or Serato is better than the other but the do of course have strengths and weaknesses that only you can decide the importance of. The better choice as far as software is the one that you feel most comfortable with Plain and simple. Serato DJ is miles above Serato Intro and Serato Scratch Live is yet another entirely different beast. Someone who got a controller with Serato Intro and then moved to Traktor has not really used Serato. There is also the difference between the Serato versions to consider. and most of the answers are subjective and opinion based anyway. Very few DJs have actually used both Serato and Traktor extensively enough to compare them objectively. Take all answers to a question like this with a grain of salt and come your own conclusions.
